Imagination of the Scene

When roaming in the Holiday Flower Market, I was convinced by a vendor of swarthy face and bought a seed of a flower which could be water-cultured. The words printed on the tag were already blurred, there were only several words recognizable: foliage, wetland plant, and pinnately compound leaf.

Without much instruction about how to grow it, I put the seed in a glass I used often and filled it with water. Out of instinct I left the glass by a sunlit window and after a couple of days, I totally forgot about it.

The next time I thought of it, the plant already germinated and grew into a complicated plant- the pinnately compound leaves on top would flutter like wings when wind blew, it seemed it was about to take off in wind. However, on the bottom the fibrous roots grabbed the glass tightly, like they were afraid they might be gone off from the place they've lived on.

Wild pigeons often flew by the window to look at this plant. Pecking the glass, they seemed to protest the wrong planting of this flower.

Concepts of Creation

The experiment conducted by Luigi Galvani is well-known: having electric current pass an amputated frog leg, the leg would twitch by the shock. It proves that the muscles of animals are moved by bioelectricity. As a matter of fact, Galvani had another less known experiment: a wing would quiver when hit by a slight electric current. It tells us that many movements of animals, like leaping, flying or walking, might be irrelevant to the wills, thoughts or memories of the animals.
