"The Tech-Art in Formosa", a groundbreaking new media art exhibition, had a spectacular opening yesterday at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Collaborating with the curatorial team, we broke traditional spatial boundaries by utilizing the main corridor on the first floor for the first time. Featuring 8K Ultra HD projection, 5G private network, mixed reality, and interactive media technologies, the exhibition immerses visitors in a seamless blend of virtual and physical spaces, highlighting the beauty of its expansive visual perspectives.

This exhibition showcases the fusion of "Artistry" and "Tech Teams" and is the result of a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Digital Affairs. It's part of the forward-thinking "5G Cultural Innovation and Application Field Development and Operation Plan." With 18 featured works, including the premiere of Reverie, a joint creation by Hsin-Chien Huang, Wen-Jie Chang, Rong-Zong Jiang, and Yi-Jun Zhang, the exhibition exemplifies cutting-edge technology. Powered by the recently established 5G high-speed private network, in partnership with Chunghwa Telecom, this masterpiece employs 8K projection, motion capture, generative AI, and new media 3D. During the opening performance, international participants' physiological data, such as heartbeats and breaths, were detected and collected via live international connections, and then transformed into visual imagery through edge AI computing. This was performed in real-time, crossing borders and spaces to create a collaborative performance with live dancers. Reverie will represent Taiwan at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria, and Milan's MEET Digital Culture Center later this year.

A special thanks to Christl Baur, the chief curator of the Ars Electronica Festival, and Maria-Grazia Mattei, the director of the Milan Digital Culture Center, for joining us online and offering their support. Christl Baur highlighted Reverie's profound connection to this year's festival theme, "HOPE: Who Will Turn the Tide," emphasizing the mindfulness and challenges of our turbulent era. Maria-Grazia Mattei also shared her encouragement, further enriching the exhibition with her presence and insights.
