«The progression from the intensely interactive Aloft to the free-flying Chalkroom to the more emotional and dreamy world of To the Moon reflects our experiments and our attempts to infuse these works with more of the spirit of story and cinema».

Aloft, Chalkroom and To the Moon, three poetically linked and complementary pieces presented together for the first time, give viewers a comprehensive overview of their research in these new narrative territories.
The sensory, poetic and technological dimensions of these three pieces are tightly intertwined and offer new forms of storytelling by amplifying our cinematic experience. It is this singular and fully authorial, approach of virtual reality, that the Directors’ Fortnight wishes to highlight, honor and share.

Also, Hsin-Chien’s new VR work called “The Missing Body Episode 1” is selected to showcase in Cannes XR Kaleidoscope Development Showcase.
“The Missing Body Episode 1” is an interactive surreal VR experience created by director Hsin-Chien Huang, winner of Best VR Experience at the 74th Venice Film Festival, and music by Lim Giong, winner of the Cannes Soundtrack Award 2015. Based on the history local to Taiwan, the story is from director’s childhood memories which depicts the reduction of humanity by the military government during the martial law, the colonial culture as well as the digital era into a story beyond reality. It will be showcased on Cannes XR Kaleidoscope Development Showcase, 15th May, 2019.
