This year is the tenth anniversary of 404 festival. The curator Gina Valenti expanded the scale of the exhibition, and reviewed the past works of the 404. To celebrate it, I invited Rosario's photographer Lucas Casatti to take photographs of local buildings, and create this piece "Shall We Dance, Rosatio?" as a gift to 404.

Work Concept:

This work is a continuation of my interactive series "Shall We Dance, Shanghai?" The original concept for the work is a crazy one: Is it possible to make a city dance with a human figure in the music of rhapsodies? Is it possible that the establishment or collapse of a city is to be decided by the shaking and twisting of the waist of a dancing citizen?

And when I visited Rosario for 404 festival 2012, this concept seems to fit to the Latin culture perfectly. In the second day of the exhibition, a dance teacher and her student came to the exhibition and danced in front of the installation. And one night at three o'clock in the morning, I was woken up by the shouting crowd who came out from the dancing club. Music and dance are part of the people's life in Rosario. After that, the image of dancing buildings accompanying with Tango occupied my mind. So I used Rosario's buildings and made a version for this fascinating city. For me, it will be mesmerizing to see Rosario's giant buildings dance to the melody of Piazzolla's Tango.
